Ornament Exchanges can be just as much fun and you always end up with a special memory to hang from your tree year after year!

This year why not come by The Painted Cottage for the best selection of ornaments around... Ok, again, we're biased, but we do have some really cute ones that are sure to have people happy they selected the ornament YOU brought! Giving some thanks...

To all of our wonderful customers who have also become our great friends! Because of all of your generosity, we were able to donate over 300lbs of food to 3 of our local churches! One church was able to feed 45 families for Thanksgiving!!!

We at The Painted Cottage were so proud to say that it was our loyal customers and friends who provided for these families!

We are hoping to be able to give the same amount (or perhaps more!) again right before Christmas! So please keep bringing in your non-perishables when you come by the store... And don't forget there is a special gift waiting for each time you do!

Our stockings are all hung!

While we may not have a chimney to hang them from, we do have the cutest stockings, ornaments, throws, pillows, Holiday cards, and kitchen accessories around! Ok so maybe we're biased, but we have transformed The Painted Cottage into 'The Holiday Cottage' and we couldn't be happier with the results! Everything from kitchen towels and mixing bowls to doormats and boxwood wreaths! There is certainly something for everyone in The Holiday Cottage... a one-stop shop to start and finish your holiday shopping!

And let's not forget about our 'Gifts for Giving' campaign! We have been overwhelmed by the support we have received from all of you! We have been able to take 3 huge boxes of food to several local churches in plenty of time to provide families with food for Thanksgiving! We are hoping to be able to do this at least two more times before Christmas so please bring in non-perishable foods the next time you come to The Painted Cottage(oops...we meant The Holiday Cottage!) And don't forget... For your generosity, you will receive a gift from us!

Speaking of showing support... We are truly so blessed to have so many kind and generous customers! As many of you know, this holiday season The Painted Cottage wanted to give back to our local community so we decided to host a food drive.... Our 'Gifts for Giving' campaign started this past weekend with our Holiday Open House. TOP TEN...

Since this holiday season will be our first, we decided to do something EXTRA special! We took 10 of our very favorite items this season and created a 'Top Ten List'! We hope that these will soon become your top ten as well...

Dash & Albert bags
We love these great bags! They can be used for a extra large purse, a beach bag, a shopping tote or even an overnight bag! And best of all... they can be monogrammed!

Happy Everything collection
Who has room to store a serving platter for every occasion?! With our Happy Everything collection there's no need! This great platter has interchangeable attachments for every occasion! Did we mention there's an adorable cookie jar and a HUGE variety of other super cute things to match?

Pompom throws
These throws are great! There are too many cute colors to choose from and at such an affordable price... you can choose more than one! These super cute throws can also be monogrammed for you or for that special person who gets one in their stocking!

Waxing Poetic jewelry
Sterling silver chains with initial tags?! Couldn't be a bigger hit this holiday season! These great necklaces and bracelets come in a variety of styles and lengths... they are sure to knock the socks of any lucky recipient! Heck, we all have them on our wish lists!

Kenian bamboo trays
These versatile trays come in lots of colors and several sizes... Use them to server appetizers at your holiday party or in your guest room to display magazines and books. Either way they are too cute!

Sweetgrass Farms
We all know that the holiday season can be one of hustle and bustle and that a nice relaxing bath is sometimes just what the doctor ordered! Sweetgrass Farms is a collection of all natural lotions, candles, and muscle rubs that is sure to help your over-shopped body!

Blackwater Folkart
We've mentioned these awesome reclaimed tin signs before and it's simply because we love them so! For the holiday season, we've had them create some signs specifically for those of you who have homes at either Ocean Isle or Sunset! We just can't get enough of the super cute Christmas signs they've created either!

Obrien Schridde frames
These just had to be on the top ten! They are so awesome! Made of reclaimed wood these frames are the perfect amount of shabby and elegant! With the variety of sizes and colors, you can fill a wall with a great collage or just use one in a room... either way we think that everyone will agree they are great!

Crabpot Christmas trees
We have just recently discovered these awesome Christmas trees! They are made of crabpots and can be used either indoors or outdoors! The smallest tree is 1' and the largest is 6'1/2"! They would look great in your yard or on your dock!

Homesource bath towels
These towels were rated Real Simple's #1 cotton bath towel and we couldn't agree more! They come in great colors! And look great monogrammed as well!

Gift Giving!

As many of you know, The Painted Cottage will be hosting our first annual Holiday Open House Novemeber 5th through the 7th. While we have been preparing for our open house, we have also been thinking about ways that we can give back to our community. After much thought and discussion, it seems we have finally come to a decision...

We hope that throughout the months of November and December that we will be able to truly make a difference in our community by being able to give generous donations to local food banks. We are hoping to enlist the help of our friends and customers for this cause.... For each bag of nonperishable food that you bring to The Painted Cottage, you will receive a special gift from us!

The food drive will kickoff the same weekend as our Holiday Open House!

Celebrations!

First, I think we need to start by offering a BIG apology... We fell down on our job! We promised to keep you all updated with the goings on at The Painted Cottage and it has obviously been a while!

However, we do have a fairly good excuse... Leigh's oldest daughter Lauren was married on September 26th! People kept asking when we would get stressed and although it seems that we never did... although, we did get EXTREMELY busy!

Lauren had (in our opinion) an absolutely perfect wedding day! She had a very traditional 'theme' with a touch of shabby chic... And of course she enlisted The Painted Cottage for some ideas!

We have recently started carrying a new line of frames that are perfect with all decor from shabby chic to modern to very traditional. At first sight, Lauren knew that these Obrien and Shridde frames would be exactly what would display her bridal portraits.

Speaking of weddings... We want to congratulate Cindy Hoskins on her recent marriage to Aaron Black! We absolutely love being able to celebrate with our bridal registrants! Best wishes to you both!
That's all for the excitement for now! We promise to keep updating regularly! (Really!)

Great new things!

We hope that everyone had as great of a Labor Day weekend as we did! We were so happy to see all of you who came to visit and hope to see you again soon!

As for some updates...

We have recently gotten 2 new lines in and are in LOVE with both!

Beatriz Ball is our new line of handmade aluminum ware. Each piece is unique and we think they are all fabulous! The greatest thing about them... they are functional serving pieces that are pretty enough to be used as decorative pieces around your home! Who doesn't love a piece that is both functional and pretty?!

Serena and Lily is our fabulous new line of bedding! While it caters mostly to children's rooms, we do have some bedding for the adults in our lives too! From sheets, quilts, and duvets, the Serena and Lily line will certainly be the perfect update to any bedroom in your house! We also have some super cute 'market slings' made of organic cotton so that you (or another Mom in your life) can be stylish while toting the little one around!

We have some other new lines coming soon so be sure to check back!

September 3, 2009

Happy Labor Day!!!

We are so excited for the long weekend! Hopefully it will give us a chance to see some of you who can't get down as often as you (and we!) would like and of course all of our favorite locals!

We have gotten some great new things in ... including our AWESOME new line of cottage chic slipcovered furniture! It is incredible! All of the slipcovers can be removed, thrown in the washer and dryer and come out looking brand new everytime! These pieces are sure to be a favorite of yours, as they have quickly become one of ours!

As many of you may know, all of artists are from North and South Carolina; this is something that we are so proud of at The Painted Cottage! It feels wonderful to help support our community! We have recently found several new artists who have brought in some new and FABULOUS pieces!

We have recently created a few new rooms to showcase some of our new favorite things (besides the incredible slipcovered furniture!) Our two current favorites are the new 'bedrooms'... One is a tranquil room perfect for relaxing and reflecting and the other is a hip, brightly colored (mostly pink of course) room perfect for girls of any age!

New additions!

Since we have recently created a baby registry, we felt it only appropriate to also create a room dedicated to babies!

And we just could not wait to share the newest room with all of our wonderful customers!

Here are a couple pictures, hopefully you will enjoy our newest 'addition' as much as we do!

We are still getting lots of new things almost daily and hope to put lots of pictures on our blog!

We are also working on our website so that you will be able to see ALL of our products and will be able to stay up-to-date with everything going on at The Painted Cottage!
